Alastair Cook called this player the complete batsman he has ever seen.

England thrashed New Zealand in Lord’s test on Monday in which England’s former captain Joe Root played an important role and bagged man of the match award.

England’s legendary cricketer and former opener Alastair Cook couldn’t stop himself to laud Joe Root who is in the best form of his life. Alastair cook said that Joe Root is the most complete England batsman he has ever seen. He added that Root can also break his record of the most test runs for England. The record for the most test runs for England is currently on the name of Alastair Cook.

Cook also stated that Joe Root has immense consistency and very adept in playing spin. He further concluded that Joe Root can go miles past his record if he remains free from injury.

On the last day of the Lord’s test match, England needed 61 runs to win which Root chased with ease scoring his 26th test hundred and also completed his 10,000 Runs in Test Matches and he is the 2nd english batsman to achieve this feat.

Coincidentally both Root and Cook took same number of days ( 31y 157d ) to complete their 10k test runs hence becoming the joint fastest to smash 10k test runs for England.

Joe Root is batting outstandingly in the longer format of the game. He surpassed his competitors in the race of the best test batsman. Since January 2021 Joe Root has scored more test runs than Smith, Kohli & Williamson combined. He has also a good chance to break Sachin’s most test runs record (15921).
